Do I need to
speak Spanish?
No, most people in tourist services
at our destinations speak English. If you plan to venture outside
these areas, take along a Spanish-English phrasebook or dictionary
just in case.
What
documentation will I need to enter Mexico?
U.S. citizens need a valid passport or birth certificate plus
an official photo ID such as a driver/s license or state ID card.
Are there customs
concerns?
Yes!!! Remember that you are entering a foreign country and Mexico
has very strict policies and penalties. Violators will be prosecuted
under Mexican laws! Do not bring anything illegal into Mexico.
Before getting off the airplane, you will be given a customs form
to fill out. (One per family) Once you claim your bags and proceed
to the exit, you will have to give the form to the Customs Agent.
If randomly selected, you will be asked by the Custom’s
Agent to inspect the contents of your bags.
Should I exchange
money?
United States dollars are easily exchanged into Mexican pesos
in banks, hotels, airports and exchange houses; however, many
places in Cancun accept US dollars. The rate of exchange fluctuates
daily. We suggest that visitors check rates first however, Bank
rates of exchange are generally higher than the rates given in
local towns or at the major hotels.. Often, major credit cards
are accepted. Ask, to be sure.
Are Major
Credit Cards Accepted?
Although paying with a credit card is a good way to get a favorable
exchange rate on dollars for pesos, don’t assume that everyone
takes credit cards. Many places only accept cash and we advise
that travelers bring along traveler’s cheques and cash them
for pesos in town.
It is important to note that often when using a credit card
at some local merchants visitors are charged a 10% fee on top
of their bill. Also, banks and ATM machines in Mexico charge a
hefty withdrawal fees even if your U.S. bank does not.
What about Tipping?
Tips are included in TeamWhite's All-Inclusive
Vacation for all meals and included actvities. However, it
is also acceptable give an extra tip to your servers, concierge,
bellhops, and housekeeping staff for any extra attention for special
services that you might request.
While visiting outside touriste attactions and restaurants the
accepted gratuity amount is 15% in situations where the gratuity
has not already been included.
Is it safe
to drink the water?
Water is purified at the resort; however, why take a chance.
Be completely safe and purchase bottled water or other bottled
or canned drinks.
Are
there doctors and hospitals available?
Although medical services in Mexico are
not as sophisticated as in the United States, there are some very
competent English speaking doctors in Mexico. Ask the hotel if
they have an English speaking doctor on premises or on call. If
there are any questions about medical treatment, check with your
doctor at home if possible. Mexico has a nationalized healthcare
system and almost every town and city has either a national hospital
or medical clinic.

I
have food allergies. Are special menus available with the Super
All-Inclusive?
Yes. However, you must make arrangements in advance so that the
Chefs can do their best to accommodate you.
Will
my small personal appliances such as a hair dryer work in Mexico?
Yes, Mexico uses standard 110 volt electricity, the same as in
the U.S.
Will my
cell phone work in Mexico?
Not always. Each cell phone company is different and it totally
depends on your service plan. We suggest that you call your service
provider to confirm your service area. To be safe provide your
family back home with an emergency contact number where you will
be staying.
What
are my alternatives if my cell phone does not work?
Probably the most frustrating thing in Las
Cabos & Canun is the cost of phone calls – it is
best if you don’t call collect, don’t use your credit
card and don’t call from your hotel unless you really have
to.
We suggest you purchase a pre-paid calling card from the local
markets and use the calling card phones. These phones are everywhere.
We suggest you buy calling cards from TelMex. Tel Mex is the official
Mexican telephone company.
What
phone number should I leave for emergencies?
Cabo:
The Royal Solaris Los Cabos front desk
telephone number is (624) 145-6800.
From the US and Canada, dial 011-52-624-145-6800

desk telephone number is (998) 848-8400.

Should
I rent a car while in Mexico?
In general, driving in Mexico is not recommended unless you are
used to driving in foreign countries and can read the Spanish
road signs. Road conditions are fairly good, but people drive
somewhat fast and often cut you off. We recommend that you do
not drive at night in the Los Cabos area as there are no street
lights and there are often cows on the roads which is quite dangerous.
Both Cancun & Los Cabos have very
adequate transportation services in the immediate resort areas
and taxis & buses are readily available and there are a number
of excellent tours that visitors can participate in. For more
information see our Important
Travel Info section.
If you do choose to rent a car, rental are available from the
major rental companies. In order to rent a car, however, you must
be at least 25 years old, have a valid driver’s license
and a major credit card. To ensure the lowest rate and availability,
make your reservation before leaving home.
Is
it safe to walk around town and on the beach at night?
As you would anywhere, use your common sense and be careful.
There is very little crime in Cancun. Many people feel much safer
in Cancun than in the United States. The tourist police are friendly
and helpful. Leave expensive jewelry at home and don/t display
large amounts of money. After dark stay on the main streets and
do not wander on the beaches late at night.
However, since Los Cabos is more seculed that Cancun we reommend
that when traveling in Los Cabos you try to remain in groups when
venturing out into remote locations.

Are there
lifeguards on the beach?
Cancun, Yes, there are life guards posted at the beach of the
Royal Solaris and a few of the other large resorts. Be careful
of large swells. It is best to always swim with a partner and
tell other people where you are going to swim and when you expect
to be back.
It is important to note that swimming is not allowed at the Royal
Solaris Resort due to very strong water currents and there are
no lifeguards on duty at the Resort in Los Cobos. There are a
number of excellent swimming beaches nearby.
Does
Royal Solaris Los Cabos have a swimming beach?
We do not rcommend that you swim in the front of Royal Solaris
as the currents are too strong. However, Los Cabos has ideal swimming
beaches closeby. Visitors are encouraged to read posted signs
and seek advice before swimming. It is best to always swim with
a partner and tell other people where you are going to swim and
when you expect to be back.
Can
I go topless or totally nude on the beaches?
It is illegal in Mexico to do either; however, in some areas
the practice is tolerated and enforcement is ignored.

is the best time to go to Los Cabos for whale watching?

open?

to 10 PM every day. The stores downtown may close on Sundays and
between 2 PM and 4 PM for siesta.
